One man was killed and another person was severely injured in a shooting in El Sobrante, Contra Costa County sheriff’s officials said Thursday.
The shooting occurred around 8:41 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies were called to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 4500 block of Appian Way. They found two people with gunshot wounds. One, Dejante Kennedy, 25, of Pittsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

A 30-year-old Richmond man was fatally shot in El Sobrante early Thursday, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 1:10 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Joan Vista Street on a report of a person who had been shot in a vehicle.
A man identified as Jovanne Hollman of Richmond was found in a car suffering from gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office said.
Despite efforts to save his life, Hollman died at the scene.
No suspects or arrests have been identified in connection with the homicide.
