The trail through South Glengarry known as the Peanut Line has long been as much of a thorn in the side of South Glengarry as it has been a credit.
Named after The Peanut Line, a train which ran from Quebec to Cornwall carrying, originally, both passengers and freight, it cut through mostly agricultural land. Farm produce was picked up and delivered to Montreal or Cornwall, and Williamstown even had a train station.

In time passenger and freight became less and less and the route was eventually abandoned, the rails torn up. The right of way was taken over by the township in 2009 and although there was much local interest on what could be done with the 32-kilometre piece, the Glendalers ATV Club took over the use of the trail for its permit-holding members but not without a wail of protes ....
