A CRASH caused long tailbacks of traffic on Thames Avenue earlier today A Wiltshire Police spokesman said at 5.30pm: Officers are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the Westfield Way junction of Thames Avenue. There is a lot of traffic building up so please avoid this area. Later, the spokesman added: “At around 4.45pm today, we were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Furlong Close. “It involved a Vauxhall and a Nissan but thankfully nobody was injured. “The road was completely clear by 7pm.” ....

The road was shut by police after the assault at around 9.15am. A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: We were called to a report of an assault on Thames Avenue this morning at approximately 9.15am. One man was taken to Great Western Hospital but is being transferred to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with a life-threatening head injury. Our investigation is at a very early stage but the two men involved are understood to be known to each other and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public. A cordon was set up on Thames Avenue while our enquiries were carried out. No arrests have been made at this stage. ....
