The Kansas City metro area continues to reopen as more and more of the population gets the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Friday the state has 311,705 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and there have been 5,038 deaths since the outbreak started. Overall, the state said 39.9% of the population has been vaccinated with at least one dose.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services said Saturday there have been 507,307 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak and 8,859 deaths. Overall, the state said 39.4% of the population has received at least one dose and 32.5% have completed vaccination. ....

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr. plans to endorse the Our Healthy KC Eastside project, which aims to address vaccine and health inequities in some parts of Jackson County.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention identified parts of Jackson County as having high socially vulnerable index scores, according to a news release.
Our Healthy KC Eastside (OHKCE) is proposing using nearly $5 million in CARES Act funding for the program. ....

Jackson County OKs $5 Million To Ramp Up COVID Vaccinations On Kansas City's East Side

The project will focus on six east side Kansas City zip codes where vaccination rates remain low, especially among minority populations.
