PALAZZO Versace s general manager has hit back at negative online reviews, saying the hotel has a special place in the hearts of thousands of loyal and frequent guests .
The Bulletin revealed on Monday that 11 of the most recent 20 reviews on TripAdvisor awarded one to two stars to the swanky resort where rooms and suites range from $375 to $3065 a night.
One visitor from Ballina who stayed in February said it was probably the worst hotel in that price range I ve ever stayed in describing the ritzy establishment as tired, boring and dull .
Another Brisbane visitor said grout was falling out and in need of repair throughout the entirety of the complex while one likened the main outdoor pool to swimming in Parramatta river . ....

Zimbabweans Fume As Fraud-Accused Shava Is Appointed Foreign Minister

ZIMBABWEANS have been left fuming following President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s shock Monday appointment of Frederick Shava as the new Foreign Minister.
Shava replaces the late Sibusiso Moyo who succumbed to Covid-19 last month.
Before his latest appointment, Shava was Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, the US.
His appointment is one of several senior government officials made by Mnangagwa following the deaths of several officials from Covid-19.
However, Shava’s appointment, who is a former Labour Minister during the era of the now late President Robert Mugabe, has been met with disparaging remarks by ordinary Zimbabweans. ....

Drug dealer used his grandma's number plates on stolen car

A Gold Coast man found guilty of drug supply offences, who used his grandma s number plates on a stolen car, is awaiting his sentence.
Police stated in court documents Zac Amey, 29, from Willow Vale, had an extensive criminal
and traffic history in both Queensland and NSW and battled drug dependency .
Police approached Amey after they saw him inside a bakery on Kennedy Drive in Tweed Heads about 5am on August 2, 2019.
When spoken to, Amey admitted he had cannabis but when police frisked him they located a large ball of crystal substance around his groin area .
Police also found another small amount of meth and some MDMA in his car, along with empty zip lock bags and $1590 cash. ....

Deluge dumps 190mm on southeast, more possible

Cleanup is underway across the southeast after an inland trough triggered heavy rainfall, dumping a whopping 191mm in parts, leading to flash flooding.
Redlands received a whopping 191mm of rain in the past 24 hours, with 95mm falling in just one hour.

Australia Weather Forecast: South-east Queensland cops a drenching as major clean up begins

Emergency services in Queensland have been inundated with calls for assistance following a deluge of heavy rain in parts of the state overnight.
Residents in south-east Queensland face a major clean-up this morning, as pockets south of Brisbane received over 200mm of rain in under five hours.

Unfortunately, our swift and flood water rescue crews had to attend six separate events where cars were in floodwaters. Some of those were people who chose to drive into the flood water and ended up putting their lives at risk and the lives of our firefighters as well, Mr Bolger said. ....
