A High Court judge on Wednesday (Apr 21) granted bids by Dr Lee Wei Ling and Mr Lee Hsien Yang for a disciplinary tribunal to investigate the alleged misconduct of the former lawyer of their late father, founding prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.

Encouraging advocates to discontinue the colonial practice of addressing judges of the higher courts as “My Lord” or “Your Lordship”, Justice P. Krishna Bhat of the High Court of Karnataka on Friday urged them to use words like “Sir”, calling it more appropriate in the Indian circumstance.
The advocates were surprised to read the instruction printed on the daily cause list of Justice Bhat’s court hall for Friday. It was also put up on the court hall’s notice board.
“Learned counsel are requested to avoid addressing the court with such excessive honorifics as ‘My Lord’ or ‘Your Lordship’, but are requested to adhere to a practice consistent with the dignity and decorum of the court, which is more appropriate in the Indian circumstance, like ‘Sir’,” the note stated. ....

New Delhi, April 15 (IANS) A Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India S.A. Bobde on Thursday said the time has come for a woman Chief Justice of India, however when women lawyers are asked to come on the bench, they refuse citing family responsibilities.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday issued a contempt of court notice to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) registrar and sought his reply within a week.
A two-member apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, heard the review petition, filed by the Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) against apex court judgment, ordering demolition of lawyersâ illegal chambers, established on a football ground, footpaths and greenbelts in Islamabad.
The court had dismissed the IBA appeal on March 2, filed against the IHC verdict declaring the establishment of lawyer chambers as âillegal, void and without jurisdiction and authorityâ. On Tuesday, Additional Attorney General told the court that the IHC registrar had filed a reply regarding demolition of illegal lawyer chambers. ....
