Children Playing Outside Call 911, Notify Residents Of Edmond House Fire

By: News 9 Authorities said children playing nearby helped to alert residents of a fire at their Edmond home. Multiple calls were made Monday evening to report a house fire near North Santa Fe Avenue and West Edmond Road. When firefighters arrived, they reported seeing heavy flames coming from the garage. Crews quickly worked to contain the fire. Authorities said the children called 911 and knocked on the door and windows to notify the people inside. Fire officials said the occupants will be displaced due to smoke damage. No injuries were reported. Officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.  

Standoff In Edmond Ends Peacefully, But With No Arrests

Edmond police officers are searching for a suspect following an 8-hour standoff that ended without an arrest.   Officers responded to a home Monday morning near West 15th Street and North Santa Fe Avenue after a woman claimed she was assaulted. Walked outside and just saw everything and I was like, ‘Wow, didn t ever think it d happen in our neighborhood,’ neighbor Jaycee Davis said. According to investigators, the standoff began when police got a call from someone stating her neighbor told her that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. She was sent to the emergency room with non-life-threatening injuries, Edmond Police Department public information specialist Emily Ward said.  

Boy, 14, badly injured by exploding firework at Vista skate park

VISTA  A firework exploded in the hands of a 14-year-old body Wednesday evening at a Vista skate park, badly injuring his hands and face, authorities said. It happened around 6:50 p.m. at the public skate park on North Santa Fe Avenue near Connecticut Avenue, according to San Diego sheriff’s Lt. Chris Lawrence. Medics airlifted the boy to UC San Diego Medical Center’s regional burn center in San Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood, Lawrence said. The severity of the victim’s injuries was unknown, but he was expected to survive. No other details were immediately available.
