GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids man won $25,000 a year for life playing Michigan Lottery’s Lucky For Life game.
Adam Warner says he buys a Lucky For Life ticket online every Thursday. His Thursday tradition paid off when he matched the five white balls drawn on April 8 to win the big prize.
“I buy a Lucky for Life ticket online every Thursday, so every Friday morning I check my numbers before heading to work,” said Warner. “When I logged in the morning after the drawing and saw the prize notification, I couldn’t help but stare at the screen for a few minutes amazed. I called my boss right away and took the day off to celebrate.” ....

LANSING, Mich. — For the first time, a Michigan student has been named first runner-up in the 2021 National Missing Children s Day Poster Contest.
The Michigan State Police Missing Persons Coordination Unit announced on Tuesday that out of more than 800 submissions Emily Glassford placed second overall in the national contest.
The contest raises awareness for missing children. MSP says more than 900 children are currently reported missing in Michigan.
Glassford is a fifth-grader at Almont Elementary in Almont. She went on to compete nationally after being picked as the Michigan winner. MSP says more than 40 students entered the contest state-wide. ....

Officials hope the change will help fill thousands of open positions that are available across Metro Detroit.
All seven of the state’s Republican U.S. House members wrote a letter to Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Monday urging a halt to the extra payment, which is on top of maximum state benefits of $362 per week.
They said the benefits incentivize people who are unemployed to not return to work. The work-search requirement was waived starting in March 2020. Claimants will have to conduct at least one work-search activity for each week they certify for benefits. ....
