Updated July 13, 2021 6:13 p.m. Burnt Peak Fire Kootenai National Forest fire officials say a pre-evacuation notice is in place for North Fork Keeler residents due to the Burnt Peak Fire burning over 900 acres southwest of Troy. Officials say the fire is now within two miles of structures and heavy equipment is being used to improve access for firefighters. Nearly 100 fire personnel are working the fire about nine miles southwest of Troy, which was sparked by lightning on July 7. Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast this evening, but are expected to bring gusty winds and little to no precipitation to the area. ....
Additional closures planned near Granite Pass Complex fires inciweb and last updated 2021-07-13 15:59:20-04 LOLO PASS â The Granite Pass Complex fires near Lolo Pass have burned an estimated 1,134 acres. The complex includes the Lolo Creek Fire in Montana and the BM Hill and Shotgun fires in Idaho. An evacuation remains in effect between the Idaho border and Lolo Hot Springs. Additional closures on the Lolo National Forest in the area of the blazes have been announced. All forest lands south and southwest of the Howard Creek Road Junction with Highway 12 to the Lolo Pass Visitor Center will be closed. ....
Fire Danger Increased to ‘Extreme’ in Missoula County Spokesperson Kristin Mortenson broke the news to KGVO early Monday afternoon. “The Missoula County Fire Protection Association has decided to increase our fire danger to extreme due to the hot dry conditions and the lack of precipitation that is forecasted in our area,” said Mortenson. Mortenson detailed the steps taken to change the fire danger level. “It s an analysis of the moisture that s in the fuels, the weather that is predicted and that has occurred, and also the resources that are available to address our fire situation,” she said. “So, it’s a matter of analyzing the risk there.” ....
