Kentucky taps former UMass quarterback Liam Coen to guide its offense

LEXINGTON, Ky. Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has hired Los Angeles Rams assistant and former UMass quarterback Liam Coen as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach to revive the Southeastern Conference’s worst passing game.
Coen, 35, was named the Rams’ assistant quarterbacks coach before this season after two as the NFL club’s wide receivers’ assistant. He will join the program after the season with Los Angeles, which reached the Super Bowl in 2018 and currently leads the NFC West. Coen works with Pro Bowl QB Jared Goff and has helped the receiver corps produce a 1,000-yard duo each of the past two seasons.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Liam Coen has been named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Kentucky, head coach Mark Stoops announced Tuesday. Coen replaces Eddie Gran, who was fired at the end of the regular season.

Coen spent the past three years with the Los Angeles Rams – 2018 and 2019 as the assistant wide receivers coach before being named assistant quarterbacks coach before the 2020 season.
The Rams are currently tied for the 2020 NFC West division lead with three games to play and are led by Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff. Coen works with Goff, who is one of the best passers in the league, having completed 324-of-475 passing attempts for 3,509 yards and 18 touchdowns this season.
Coen has served as assistant quarterbacks coach and assistant wide receivers coach with the Rams.
He worked one season as offensive coordinator at Maine.
