Allen K. A: You are correct, Allen. The DMV started a new numbering sequence for our stock plates. This unique sequencing is what most other states already do and is strongly recommended as a best practice by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). We started with the passenger plates (1AA 123) in early December and will be starting the other plate types as our old plate inventory is depleted. We have new sequences for our five (2A100) and four (3A10) digit plates too. These new numbering sequences will generate millions upon millions of unique registrations and will help eliminate duplicate registrations across multiple plate types (i.e. passenger, commercial, combination, etc.). It will assist law enforcement, toll agencies and municipalities with traffic cameras to issue the violation to the correct individual and vehicle. ....
