sheep listen to his voice, and
he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts all his own sheep outside,
he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because
they know his voice. However, a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because
they do not know the voice of strangers.”
Do you know God’s voice? How can you if you’re not listening for it?
The other day, I heard a “strange” sound. The lilting, gentle, calming sound of doves in our yard seemed to momentarily rise above the din of my neighborhood as I stopped and strained to listen as though for the first time.
The Handmaid’s Tale returned for its fourth season with “Pigs” written by Bruce Miller and directed by Colin Watkinson. The show picks up right where it left off after June (Elisabeth Moss) was shot. I will be reviewing each episode separately – even though they dropped 3/1 or 2/2 depending on where you are watching. My apologies for getting these up a bit late, but it’s never too late to discuss this brilliant show, and we all know what “real” life can be like these days! The show remains as brilliant as ever with gorgeous cinematography and musical choices. “I’ll Say A Little Prayer for You” plays over a montage of the handmaid’s carrying a wounded June, trying to save her life as she bleeds alarmingly from her bullet wound. White and red mix and blur. This is her sacrifice and her punishment for getting the children out. Staying itself is also a metaphorical wound.
Sisters Folk Festival
Toni Del Guidice’s mixed media original, aptly titled Holding Hope, was chosen as 2021 My Own Two Hands poster art
SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) Sisters Folk Festival is getting ready to host its largest annual fundraiser and community arts celebration, My Own Two Hands, taking place virtually May 10-15. Proceeds from the event support SFF’s mission of strengthening community and transforming lives through music and art.
Selecting this year’s MOTH award winners was both challenging and humbling with nearly 80 incredible pieces of art donated by generous artists and organizations to choose from. It is with great excitement that we announce this year’s My Own Two Hands awards of excellence.

For a moment, let’s set aside the bunnies, baskets, and sugar binging of secular Easter.
For the Christian, Easter commemorates the only hope any of us have of reaching heaven. The sacrificial death of Jesus (what Good Friday is all about) would be of no use to we earthbound humans unless God provides a way of “transporting” us to His heavenly dwelling.
Turns out, Christ’s resurrection and ascension provides an exclusive “express elevator” for all true believers to be with God forever. As written in Ephesians 2:4-7, Jesus did not ascend to heaven alone: “But God . made us (believers) alive together with Christ . and (spiritually)
NEWARK - Celebrating Black history doesn’t end after February.
The Ohio State University-Newark and Central Ohio Technical College’s latest addition to their Black History Month collection of art was unveiled as a statue of the iconic Harriet Tubman.
The statue, on loan to campus from the Gilbert Reese Family Foundation, wanted to honor the significance of Black artists and writers. The two colleges started a tradition of grand celebrations nearly 20 years ago. They hope to implement more murals, paintings and sculptures inside buildings to celebrate noteworthy Black people, according to COTC President John Berry.
Another aspect of the celebration is an annual Black History Gala, held this year via Zoom on February 25. Each year, students and faculty get together to plan and coordinate the gathering.
