As the lead vocalist and co-founder of Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, she beckoned the island’s dwellers to untold pleasures while the group’s self-titled debut stirred dancers into sweaty, salty abandon. Doris Rogers, 72, of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at Parkridge Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1948, to the late Ted and Jean Kennedy in Augusta, Ga.
She was everyone’s Aunt Doris, never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcomed.
Doris took joy in cooking and hosting family gatherings with her husband. Creative and crafty with sewing, crochet, jewelry, sewed lots of wedding dresses, bridesmaid’s gowns and wedding cakes for her family.
She was very outgoing and most of all loved to travel anywhere, but her favorite was the beach. She was incredibly supportive of her husband, and a loving mother.
