KNBN NewsCenter1 May 11, 2021 RAPID CITY, S.D. Country music artist Joe Nichols will return to Rapid City on Monday, August 23 to perform during the 2021 Black Hills Energy Concert Series. Nichols debuted his first album in 1996 and has accrued six Number Ones and eight Top 10s – such as “Brokenheartsville” and “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” – since then. He’s a three-time Grammy nominee, and has one American Country Music (ACM), Country Music Association (CMA), and Country Music Television (CMT) awards. “Joe has played our fair before and we can’t wait for his return”, says Fair Manager Ron Jeffries. “He’s a fun, energetic entertainer that the fans have been asking for; and we couldn’t be happier to have him back for this year’s celebration” ....
Cllr Roy Emmett (Lab, Hainault) said he was amazed to see a chalkboard for suggestions placed in the park untouched by the usual graffiti, while Cllr Farah Hussain (Lab, Valentines) said residents “who live nowhere near Fairlop” had told her how excited they were. She added: “This is a piece of work that has captured the imagination of people far and wide in the borough. “It’s a great opportunity to bring back some green space but also potential income generation. It’s right next to a Tube station so could be used for sustainable development.” The council is converting 250 acres of depleted gravel quarries into open space, nearly doubling the size of the park. ....
KNBN NewsCenter1 February 7, 2021 RAPID CITY, S.D. The Black Hills Stock Show and Rapid City Rodeo wrapped up this weekend. Turnout for the events outdid previous years, as they were some of the only shows anywhere in the country still scheduled during the pandemic giving organizers an opportunity to show off the best of Rapid City. “The one thing we noticed about this years Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo, was there was an electric vibe in the air, throughout all the attendees,” said Ron Jeffries, general manager of the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo. “You could really tell that people were happy to be out and have a place to go. A lot of people traveled from out of state to be here because we’re open and available for events, and you could see that throughout the week.” ....
