1565 Tribune News Service Ludhiana, December 20 One person lost his life to coronavirus, while 57 tested positive for it in Ludhiana district today. The total positive cases in the district reached 24,379 and the death toll has gone up to 949. Now, there are 642 active cases in the district. On Sunday, 106 persons were sent for home quarantine. The person who lost his life today was a 78-year-old man, a resident of Barewala Awana. He was a patient of hypertension and was admitted to SPS Hospital. Out of the total persons who tested positive, 14 were contacts of positive people, 13 were referred from the OPDs, 22 were referred from the flu corner, while the tracing of eight was on. ....
Ludhiana: The long wait for city residents is finally over as the work on the construction of the boundary wall of Halwara international airport project started on Tuesday. The work of carpeting the approach road for the new Halwara international airport has already been started over a week back. Fatehgarh Sahib MP Amar Singh laid the foundation stone to construct the boundary wall of the airport. The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Ludhiana DC Varinder Kumar Sharma, additional chief administrator, Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada) Bhupinder Singh and airport director S K Saran. The MP while expressing gratitude to Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh for ‘personally intervening’ in this project and taking it up with the central government to expedite the work of the airport.
