This afternoon, amidst the usual mix of passengers making their way over to the Isle of Wight, the 14:45 ferry pulled into Fishbourne Ferry Port carrying a rather different kind of passenger.
Whilst cars, vans and lorries are very often seen boarding, it is rather rarer to see a train, on a lorry, on a ferry.

Young Islanders are invited to seek out some inspiration for their future later this month (May) with a free event taking place.
The Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is inviting young people to the Careers and Apprenticeship Show on Thursday 20 May.
The virtual fair is a collaborative event between nine LEPs across Hampshire, Dorset and Surrey and is free for young people, their parents and carers. Organisers say it is a unique opportunity to learn about different career paths.

The fair is aimed at young people aged between 15 and 19, and runs from 9am – 7pm. It will feature a full day of interactive webinars, chatrooms, and over 70 employer and apprenticeship provider booths to visit, for you to ask questions.

Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), a partnership between business, education and local authorities, last week published its Solent Skills Action Plan and Local Skills Report. The report reveals a current digital divide in the area, setting out plans to simplify the landscape for businesses and individuals, responding to productivity issues and helping to address skills gaps. The LEP claims the development of skills plays a critical role in providing opportunities for the region’s residents, workforce and businesses, helping them to remain competitive and grow.
