State-owned RailTel Corporation of India, on Thursday, fixed the price band of Rs 93-94 a share for its initial share-sale, which will open for public subscription on February 16.
The initial public offer (IPO) is entirely an offer-for-sale through which government will offload 87,153,369 equity shares, amounting to 27.16 per cent stake, the company said in a statement.
At the upper end of the price band, the government would raise a little over Rs 819 crore.
The three-day issue would close on February 18 and the anchor investors portion would be open for subscription on February 15.
The mini-ratna PSU is one of the largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers in the country owning an optic fiber network on exclusive Right of Way (RoW) along railway track. ....

RailTel, the public sector unit with the exclusive right of way along railway networks, has its Initial Public Offer slated next week. On offer will be 8.71 crore equity shares, 27 per cent is being divested to the public, with a price band of ₹93-94 a share.

RailTel, which has provided fibre optic connectivity at over 5,900 stations across the country and mostly in rural areas, is now planning to provide broadband and WiFi facilities in remote villages, sources said on Friday.
As we already have optic fibre cables in 58,742 route km and proper Internet WiFi services at 5,900 railway stations we have shared a proposal with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for providing broadband and WiFi services in remote villages, a RailTel source connected to the development told IANS.
The source said that RailTel, which has a presence even in the remote areas of the country, has the capacity to provide broadband and WiFi services in the villages, which will be a mega boost for the government s Digital India programme. ....
