Update: Thompson qualifies, will face Fussell for Post 3 seat There will be a contested race for the Post 4 seat on Richmond Hill City Council. Marcus Thompson qualified before the deadline Thursday, according to City Clerk Dawnne Greene, who is also the city s elections supervisor. Thompson, who ran unsuccessfully against longtime state Rep. Ron Stephens in 2020, will face former Richmond Hill Post 4 councilman and longtime planning and zoning commissioner Les Fussell in the race. Look for more on the candidates to come. ....

Election to fill Ott seat planned for March 16 Qualifying begins at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for the Richmond Hill Post 3 council seat vacated by Mark Ott, who said he stepped down to find employment. Qualifying runs from Tuesday until 4:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at City Hall. Prospective candidates have to qualify with City Clerk Dawnne Greene, who is also the city’s elections supervisor. There is a $150 qualifying fee for candidates. The election is March 16, and early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 22 through March 12. ....
