The economists have instead advised the state government to strengthen its health facilities and social welfare schemes to tackle the impending rural and urban distress, which is likely to occur in the coming weeks with a surge in reverse migration of workers from big cities. Image used for representational purpose only RANCHI: The Jharkhand high court on Monday asked the government to be more compassionate and make arrangements for speedy disposal of bodies of Covid-19 patients with dignity. Taking note of the news flashed across local dailies that bodies are piling up in burning ghats, a division bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, which had taken suo moto cognisance of the Covid management in Jharkhand last year, said the administration must pull up its socks and ensure that proper arrangements are made at the crematoriums. Terming the situation as a “medical emergency”, the bench said it had hoped that the government would have learnt from the mistakes it made during the Covid-19 pandemic last year. “But it seems that the government has not learnt its lesson,” the bench remarked. ....
BOKARO: The Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) management has cancelled leaves of all employees for April 13 after two trade unions here gave a call for strike demanding wage revision, among others. The chief of communication at BSL, Manikant Dhan, said: “BSL has a healthy tradition of resolving issues through discussions with trade unions and workers’ representatives and this has helped in establishing a conducive industrial climate. It is expected from the trade unions and the employees that they would uphold the same tradition. It has been decided that no leave will be granted to employees and already sanctioned leaves shall be deemed to be cancelled. The employees abstaining from work on April 13 and 14 will be deemed to be on strike.” ....
