Board member Robert Palmer took a moment to encourage citizens to get out and vote. People running for a lot of open seats, and you won t see us again until after that election, Palmer said. The board could look different. So please, please go out and exercise your right.
In-person voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at York High School on Election Day, May 22. The COVID-19 precautions will still in place, with 50% capacity and mask wearing.
Absentee ballots are available at the town clerk’s office and can be dropped off at town hall or in the green mail box outside the clerk’s office at any time of the day, Lagasse said.
Opinion/Letter: Opinion shopping In Ogunquit?
By Peter Kahn
Did the Ogunquit Select Board Chair go opinion shopping? You decide. Here are the facts.
At the April 13 Select Board meeting, the Town Attorney, when asked to clarify the definition of “majority” as it is used in the Ogunquit Charter stated “…when the Charter talks about a majority, it talks about a majority of those voting.” When asked, the Town Clerk affirmed, “Yes, a majority of the votes cast.”
Further into the meeting, Counsel reaffirmed her opinion: “You have to have more than the other person, but you also have to have at least 50%.” Again, the Town Clerk agreed.

Leaders with the Anti-Defamation League say the comparison is offensive and serves to perpetuate anti-Semitism

YORK, Maine – One of the three candidates running for two available seats on the York Board of Selectmen has had a habit of sharing questionable memes and commentary about the COVID-19 pandemic on social media.
Steven M. Leifheit, the challenger taking on two incumbents in next month s election, has posted on Facebook extensively in the past year about safety precautions related to the pandemic, repeatedly describing the public health measures as a form of government oppression and control. I am extremely agitated as I remember back a year ago when people said, it s only a mask and we just need to flatten the curve, Leifheit wrote in a public post on March 12. So look where we are now. Because they saw how compliant we were, they continue to take freedom after freedom from us.
