India, Bangladesh to Heighten Diplomatic Engagements in Run-up to PM Modi s Visit to Dhaka Tuesday March 02 2021 Advertisement The tempo of diplomatic engagement between India and Bangladesh is rising ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi s visit to the neighbouring country which is expected to take place in the last week of March. This will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to a foreign country since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. PM Modi has taken part in various bilateral and multilateral meetings virtually. An official announcement about the visit is yet to be made. Sources told ANI that visit is expected to take place on March 26 and 27. Contours and agenda of the visit are being finalized. ....

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal inaugurated the Onsite Identification and Verification System (OIVS) technology at the home ministry on Sunday. Explaining how OIVS technology works, Colonel Tofail Mostafa Sarwar, Additional Director General (ADG) of RAB, said, “As soon as someone puts a finger on a device, it will connect to different servers. Apart from NID, passport, crime information and driving license information, law enforcers can know whether they are Rohingya or not.” Colonel Tofail said, “The software of this technology is made in Bangladesh, but the device has been brought from abroad.” ....
NEW DELHI: India and Bangladesh held home secretary-level talks via virtual mode on Saturday, during which they reaffirmed not to allow the territory of either country to be used for any activity inimical to each other’s interests. At the 19th home secretary-level talks held in the backdrop of ‘Mujib Barsho’ and 50 years of Bangladesh liberation war and establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Indian home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Mostafa Kamal Uddin, senior secretary, public security division in the ministry of home affairs of Bangladesh, reiterated their commitment to further expand and strengthen mutual cooperation in security and border-related issues. ....
