Ford Design Exits and Entrances Ford design leader Moray Callum is taking his pen and going home. Callum will call it a day after 38 years as one of the auto industry’s preeminent designers. With more than half his career at Ford, Callum vacates his post as vice president, design, for Ford and Lincoln brand vehicles worldwide. His successor is Anthony Lo, most recently vice president, exterior design, at Renault. Callum will leave on May 1, after a one-month transition period with Lo, who starts April 1. Callumâs influence at Ford has been profound, especially the work he and his team did recently, which included the 2021 F-150, Mach-E, new Bronco, and Bronco Sport. A redefined product line at Lincoln led to the brand’s resurgence. Other successes attributed to Callum included the 1999 Super Duty truck, 2011 Explorer, 2005 Mazda MX-5, 2007 Mazda CX-7, 2015 Mustang, and F-150, and 2016 Mustang GT. ....
By TTAC Staff on November 7, 2013 Three of Ford’s most senior and veteran executives are retiring, global design chief J Mays, North American manufacturing head Jim Tetreault and Martin Mulloy, who is in charge of labor relations. Mays’ replacement will be Moray Callum, design director for Ford’s North American operations. All three men had important roles in turning Ford around. Mulloy negotiated contracts with the UAW that were critical in reducing costs, while Tetreault had a big hand in reshaping Ford’s manufacturing strategy towards efficient and flexible factories. Mays has  supervised the styling the cars and trucks that have helped turned Ford’s fortunes around, implementing Ford CEO Alan Mulally’s “One Ford” directive in a visual sense. Callum has been cranking out cool cars and trucks for 38 years, is notable for his work at Mazda, and most recently oversaw the design of the forthcoming Bronco. Replacing him at the helm of Ford design will be Anthony Lo, who joins the Blue Oval team from the Renault design team. After 38 years designing the likes of the Mustang, Ford GT and Mustang Mach-E, Ford designer and nice guy Moray Callum (second from the left above) is retiring after seven years as the design chief. Born in Scotland, Callum worked indirectly with Ford since the late 1980s, when he was a consultant designer at Ghia in Italy. He worked on the development of numerous concept vehicles, including the Ford Ghia Via and Aston Martin Lagonda Vignale. He went to Mazda in Japan from 1995 to 2001, heading up the company’s transformation in its design studios. Through Ford’s relationship with Mazda, Callum went to Ford in 2006 as an executive director of design, and moved up to his current role in 2014. Earlier in his career, Callum also worked for Chrysler in the U.K.; and for PSA Peugeot Citroën in France. ....
