New manufacturer announced for Elizabethtown

Kruger Packaging plans to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing operation in Hardin County, which will create at least 150 jobs in coming years, according to an announcement Thursday from the governor’s office. “Kruger Packaging will be a strong employer in Central Kentucky for years to come, and I look forward to watching the company grow and help build a better future for Kentuckians,” Gov. Andy Beshear said. The new 400,000-square-foot facility to be located at T.J. Patterson Industrial Park in Elizabethtown will operate under the name Kruger Packaging (USA) LLC and represents the company’s first corrugated box plant in the U.S.

Realtor Amy Boone knows because she s been selling homes in Central Kentucky for 15 years. She says the competition for buyers right now is like nothing she s ever seen. There are just so many buyers who are ready and have the financing available but yet there s just not enough inventory, just not enough houses and so buyers are just scrambling, said Boone. The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors estimates the average time a home is on the market in the area now is 36 days. That s compared to 59 days just a year ago.
