CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - When you require surgery or hospitalization, most of us look for an in-network hospital covered by our insurance.

“I had surgery five times in 2020, and thought I was covered for anesthesia but received a bill several months later,” said Jenna Wolbert.

Ex-Rep Hayes Pardoned by Trump for Role in North Carolina Insurance Bribery Scheme
A former North Carolina congressman and state Republican Party leader who lied to FBI agents about a bribery scandal received a pardon from outgoing President Donald Trump in his final hours in office.
Federal authorities said ex-Rep. Robin Hayes participated in a scheme while GOP state chairman in which a wealthy insurance company magnate attempted to bribe the state insurance commissioner with $1.5 million in campaign funds in exchange for removing a top department regulator. The company executive, Greg E. Lindberg, was convicted last year and is serving prison time. Lindberg had quickly become a major political donor in state politics.
On his way out the door, President Trump granted presidential pardons to 74 people and commuted the sentences of 70 others. WFAE’s Tommy Tomlinson, in his On My Mind commentary, wants us to remember one of those pardons that hits close to home.
