By WXTK News Dec 31, 2020 The historic Stage Harbor Coast Guard Boathouse doesn t look like it s going to make it back to Chatham. The Cape Cod Chronicle reports a deal reached to relocate the boathouse from its current location in Hull has fallen through. The structure was the home of the Coast Guard boat that famously rescued crew members of the SS Pendleton in 1952. According to the Chronicle report, a Plymouth County Superior Court judge ordered current owner Michael McDevitt to remove the dilapidated boathouse from a shorefront property by January 1st or face heavy fines. The town of Hull has been fighting to get it removed since it was moved across the bay on a barge from Quincy. ....
BENGALURU: Lt Gen SK Saini, vice chief of army staff, on Friday said India’s role in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) is now a strategic obligation and not just a choice anymore. Reiterating the economic and strategic importance, Saini said India would need to have a robust roadmap to implement its strategy for the region amidst increased threat perceptions. Its strategic location, economic and otherwise, and the slow but steady shift of power from the West to East have made the IOR a hub of global geo-political rivalry, Saini said as part of the Aero India webinar series organised by the Indian Military Review and Centre for Joint Warfare Studies with the ministry of defence. ....

LAS CRUCES – The county is calling on the state to provide “adequate funding” to operations at Spaceport America and to stop relying on excess gross receipts tax revenue to cover its operational costs. The move comes on the heels of a forensic audit report which accused the spaceport’s former director, Dan Hicks, of misusing tax dollars among other allegations of violating criminal and administrative statutes. At its Dec. 8 meeting, the Doña Ana County Commission unanimously approved a resolution that calls on the state to stop allowing excess GRT revenue to pay for spaceport expenses the county argues it had not pledged to cover. ....
