It was with deep regret that we learned of the death on Wednesday, April 21 of Mrs Mary Wynne (nee O’Neill), Drynan, Ballymahon.
Predeceased by her grandson Luke, her brother Fr Patrick and sister Sr Helen, the late Mary was a proud Co Clare woman. She was born in 1932 and following her schooling in Mountmellick trained to be a domestic science teacher where she started in Galway.   
She met her future husband Garda Bill Wynne at a dance in Gort. Herself and Bill would have been married 55 years this year. He was stationed in Aughnacliffe before moving to Ballymahon where he was stationed for a long number of years and was a very popular member of the force with both the public and his work colleagues.    ....

Predeceased by her grandchild Luke.
Deeply regretted by her loving husband Bill. Her daughters Mary and Colette. Her son Liam, her grandchildren Aoibh, Jenna, Keela, Siún, Laura, Cara and Evan. Her sister Phil (Kilrush), brothers Donal (Dublin) and Jack (Cooraclare). Daughter-in-law Denise, sons-in-law Ronan and Eamonn, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.
Reposing privately. Due to current Government and HSE guidelines on funeral gatherings, a private funeral Mass, for family only, will take place in St Matthew s Church, Ballymahon, on Saturday at 12 o clock followed by burial in Shrule Cemetery. A live link will be available from 12 o clock on Saturday morning for anyone who may wish to view the funeral Mass on St Matthew s Church facebook page. ....

Survivors in Britain who escaped Nazi Germany mark Holocaust Memorial Day


Survivors who fled to Britain to escape Nazi Germany lit candles and paid poignant tributes to victims today as they marked Holocaust Memorial Day.
Boris Johnson met with a Holocaust survivor and a Second World War veteran and warned Britons not to get complacent about the atrocity.
The Prime Minister spoke with Renee Salt, a survivor of both Auschwitz-Birkenau and Bergen-Belsen, and Second World War veteran Ian Forsyth during a video call from Downing Street to mark Holocaust Memorial Day. 
Leisel Carter revealed how she lost most of her family in the Holocaust and spent time with foster families in Norway and Britain before eventually settling in Yorkshire.  ....

Her incredible story has emerged on Holocaust Memorial Day, a national day of commemoration dedicated to the remembrance of those who suffered in the Holocaust.
Leisel, aged 85, said: I think it s vital we continue to talk about the Holocaust because what happened to Jewish people then is still happening in other countries today.
People are being killed not only because of their race but because of their religion.
You see on the news people being murdered and driven out of their homes, just like what happened in Nazi Germany.
