Activists, forming the phrase “HIV SOS” are calling on the city of Charleston, W.Va., to declare a public health emergency for new HIV cases and prescription drug overdoses.

Tuscaloosa: Officials in west Alabama’s largest city said they expect to spend          $1.5 million to $4 million repairing damage to water and sewer pipes damaged by Tropical Storm Claudette. The storm dumped between 4 and 8 inches of rain on Jan. 19, causing widespread flash flooding. City officials told The Tuscaloosa News that they’re still repairing water and sewer pipes near the Black Warrior River.
