'Disaster' ahead if rates were to rise: Magellan

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Magellan Midstream Partners LP on Tuesday reported a drop of about 36% in net income in the fourth quarter as the COVID-19 pandemic reduced demand for refined products.
The company also reported lower volumes and average rates on its crude oil pipelines, in part because several of its higher-priced contracts on the Longhorn pipeline, which flows from Crane to Houston, Texas, expired.
Global fuel demand collapsed in 2020 as governments across the world imposed lockdowns and travel restrictions to contain the spread of the coronavirus. As vaccines are rolled out, demand has begun a tepid recovery but remains below levels seen before the pandemic. ....

Magellan, Enterprise to develop Houston crude oil futures contract

Jan 21 (Reuters) - Magellan Midstream and Enterprise Products plan to jointly develop a futures contract for the physical delivery of crude oil in the Houston area, the companies said on Thursday.
The midstream infrastructure companies said the project is in response to market interest for a Houston-based index with greater scale and price transparency.
Quality specifications of the oil will be consistent with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil originating from the Permian Basin, with delivery capabilities at either Magellan’s East Houston terminal or Enterprise’s ECHO terminal.
The contract for West Texas intermediate crude, or WTI, is the benchmark for U.S. crude oil prices. ....

Magellan continues making fins for Standard Missile - Naval Warfare

Surface control assemblies to be provided to Raytheon until 2024.
Magellan Aerospace is providing complex missile fin components for the Standard Missile (SM) programme, under a new $61.4 million contract from Raytheon Missiles and Defense.
The heat-tolerant surface control assemblies will be manufactured in Middletown, Ohio, with a delivery schedule until 2024.
Canada-based Magellan has participated in the Standard Missile programme for more than 20 years, supplying dorsal fins for various SM configurations.
Raytheon was awarded a multi-year deals by the DoD in late 2020 to provide engineering and product support management, material and services for SM-3 and SM-6.
