The company said that prototype testing of the supercar, of which only 100 units will be made and are already sold out, has begun. It also revealed that it has plans to launch one more fossil-fuel supercar after the T.50, followed by a hybrid model around 2026. The focus will then shift on to electrification, with a fully-electric supercar expected sometime in 2029 or 2030, Reuters reports. It won’t be the only electric solution to come from the company, which is helmed by legendary race car designer Gordon Murray. It is aiming to develop electric SUVs and delivery vehicles for interested clients. “Electric is what we’ve been missing and that’s where the future is,” Murray told the news agency. ....
In an announcement today, GMA outlined a number of plans for future expansion of the brand, including a $424 million investment into its current operations, new leadership appointments, and the formation of a new subdivision: Gordon Murray Electronics. The new subdivision, according to the brand, plans to develop advanced electrified powertrains for bigger automotive manufacturers and tech companies. Presumably, that means Gordon Murray Automotive hopes it can become an EV supplier much like Rimac, the Croatian company that makes most of its money off supplier deals, while also building supercars on the side. Gordon Murray Automotive has released footage and images of its T.50 supercar undergoing body-on testing for the first time. Held only meters away from its future production facility at Dunsfold airfield, the first full pre-production model, called XP2, turned its wheels with Professor Gordon Murray at the wheel. XP2, or Experimental Prototype 2, is the first time that a T.50 s carbon chassis, body and Cosworth-built V12 engine have been brought together, and will form a core element of the T.50 s development before customer production commences next year. As one of the most anticipated supercars of the modern era, the T.50 has a lot to live up to when it eventually does hit the road, but with a model like the McLaren F1 in the back catalogue Gordon Murray and his team are better setup than most to deliver. ....
