VENTURA, Calif. - A Ventura man who ran from deputies and then collapsed in a field in December died of a methamphetamine overdose, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner s Office.
28-year-old Miguel Burciaga Jr. fled from deputies on Dec. 3, as they tried to arrest him for an outstanding felony warrant.
Deputies lost sight of Burciaga as he ran through a backyard and over a fence.
They then saw Burciaga from a distance as he ran across a field and collapsed.
It appeared Burciaga was experiencing a medical emergency.
Burciaga was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On 12/27/20, at approximately 5:37 PM, deputies with the Camarillo Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred in the area of Lomita Street and N. Glenn Drive in the City of Camarillo. Deputies located two adult males who had been shot by unknown suspect(s). One victim was shot several times while seated in his car. The other victim was shot as he tried to get out of the car to flee the assault. Both victims were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries. The victims have since been released from the hospital.
Two men arrested in Camarillo after shooting leaves two hospitalized
CAMARILLO, Calif. - Ventura County Sheriff s deputies arrested two men the last week of December following a shooting in Camarillo that left two people hospitalized.
Deputies and officers with the Camarillo Police Department responded to the shooting around 5:37 p.m. on Dec. 27.
After arriving in the area of Lomita Street and N. Glenn Drive in Camarillo, crews found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One had been shot multiple times while seated in his car, the other was shot while trying to get out of his car and run from the attack.
Ventura County Sheriff’s reports inmate death
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. The Ventura County Sheriff s Office reported an inmate death in the County Jail Monday afternoon.
The inmate was identified as Steven Johnson, 37, from Ojai.
On Dec. 15 around 11:15 a.m., deputies at the Ventura County Jail reportedly found Johnson alone and unresponsive in his cell.
Deputies provided aid and called for the medical staff. Ventura City Fire and AMR also responded to the jail and transported Johnson to Ventura Community Memorial Hospital.
A few days later, Johnson was transferred to Ventura County Medical Center for additional care.
On Sunday at around 9:13 p.m, Johnson was pronounced dead by the hospital.
A 29-year-old man is facing charges following multiple crimes in the Herndon area in late November and early December.
On Wednesday just after 8 a.m., Fairfax police officers responded to a suspicious person call and later a reported luring, both near Sunrise Valley Drive in Herndon. Detectives remained in the area throughout the day searching for the suspect as his description and suspicious activity in Wednesdayâs incidents matched that of the previous reported assault on Nov. 27, police said.
In the November case, a woman was in the hallway of a hotel at the 13400 block of Sunrise Valley Drive around 7:30 a.m. when a man grabbed her from behind. The man covered her mouth, pushed her against a wall and assaulted her. She was able to yell for help and the man ran away. The victim suffered minor injuries.
