Four killed in three accidents Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Four persons died in three accidents in the city limits and in Chengalpattu district on Sunday night and Monday morning. The police said Nethra, 40, a Nepalese national and daily wage earner in Thiruverkadu, was riding his bicycle along the Poonamallee High Road near Mathiravedu, when a goods carrier knocked him down from the rear. He died of head injuries while being taken to hospital. The Poonamallee Traffic Investigation police arrested goods carrier driver Srikumar. In an accident in Chengalpattu district, Varadharajan, 74, a painter from Karunagaravilagam in Madurantakam, and Velu, 37, from the same locality, died when a car from Tiruchi hit their bicycle on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway near the Karunagaravilagam on Monday morning. Varadharajan died on the spot while Velu died at the Madurantakam Government Hospital. ....
Hesitancy to get inoculated leads to vaccine wastage in Tamil Nadu May 07, 2021 8.83% of vaccines consumed have gone waste in TN Tamil Nadu has, so far, consumed 68.47 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines. While this is quite low when compared to other large States, what is more worrying is the fact that 8.83 per cent of the vaccines consumed have gone waste. In other words, as many as 6.04 lakh people could have been vaccinated at least once had there been no wastage. Only Lakshadweep has a wastage percentage (9.76 per cent) higher than Tamil Nadu, says Union Ministry of Health data. This issue needs immediate attention. ....
