A recent Janus Henderson Investors webinar reviewed key defined contribution (DC) trends and developments in the retirement industry for 2021, pinpointing diversity and inclusion (D&I), retirement confidence and environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing as top highlights.
The webinar, hosted by Matthew Sommer, head of defined contribution and wealth advisor services at Janus Henderson Investors, noted that a 2020 survey of DC plan sponsors by Willis Towers Watson found close to two-thirds of respondents extended their organizations D&I efforts to their retirement plans. KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI From healthcare to welding to engineering, the MiCareerQuest Southwest career discovery event had something for every student.
The annual event, which was held virtually Wednesday, May 12, introduces local eighth-grade students to a variety of job opportunities and industry experts to help guide them toward their future careers.
The virtual event was open to students from school districts across the region, according to a news release from the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency. A grant from Stryker Corp. allowed the event to continue virtually amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the release said. ....

Family Health Center celebrates pandemic milestone: 5,000 vaccinations

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Family Health Center (FHC) is celebrating a pandemic milestone.
Its free, large-scale, community-based vaccination effort has surpassed 5,000 vaccinations.
FHC started the campaign in January to make sure vaccines were easily available to people in Kalamazoo’s hardest-hit neighborhoods.
FHC worked with Bronson Healthcare Group on the vaccination effort.
“Reaching this remarkable milestone reflects our long-time commitment to bringing quality health care to historically underserved people in our most vulnerable neighborhoods,” said Denise Crawford, FHC President & CEO.
With vaccinations trending downward recently, Bronson and FHC are revisiting their approach. They are now looking to adapt its model to inform the public that vaccines are available to anyone that wants one. ....

Family Health Center announces 5,000 COVID-19 vaccines administered

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Family Health Center (FHC) in Kalamazoo has surpassed 5,000 administered COVID-19 vaccines, according to an announcement made Monday.
Officials say this milestone is the result of a campaign which began in January, which was meant to ensure that first and second doses of vaccines were easily available to people within Kalamazoo’s hardest-hit neighborhoods.
Drive-through vaccination clinics are currently running twice weekly. They rotate through the neighborhoods of Northside, Edison, Downtown, Westwood, Eastside, Milwood, Parchment and Comstock.
