A NEW Covid-19 rehab training programme will be rolled out at Bolton Community Leisure gyms to help customers who are dealing with the long term effects of the illness. Fitness teams will be taught how to deal with those who have had coronavirus and are seeking guidance and support alongside exercise programmes. BCL run Farnworth, Leverhulme, Horwich and Westhoughton leisure centres, as well as the Jason Kenny Centre on behalf of Bolton Council. The training is being provided by CAWS, which offer courses for fitness professionals, including their Rebuild programme, aimed at helping those with have had the illness or Long Covid. ....
HALF a million pounds of funding has been secured by Bolton Council to support popular sporting and leisure facilities during the Covid-19 recovery. Funding worth £489,000 from Sport England s National Leisure Recovery Fund will help to ensure public leisure centres can reopen safely for as many residents as possible. According to the government s roadmap for the easing of lockdown restrictions, the borough s leisure centres could open as early as April 12. The funding will be shared between two organisations which manage leisure centres on behalf of the council, with Bolton Community Leisure Trust receiving £374,000 and Bolton Arena benefitting from £115,000. It will be invested in measures which will allow centres to accommodate more people and open for longer than would otherwise be possible. ....
GREATER Manchester residents are being invited to join free online fitness sessions for World Cancer Day. The sessions are being led by exercise specialists who deliver fitness, nutrition and wellbeing programmes to help cancer patients prepare for and recover from major surgery. The sessions are set to take place on Thursday, February 4. The instructors work for a transformational programme called Prehab4Cancer. They usually deliver help in local community leisure centres for people with cancer who are referred for support by the medical teams at the region’s hospitals. In response to lockdown restrictions, the Prehab4Cancer exercise specialists are offering their support online. ....
