The 2021 season of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival will launch July 8. In 2020, just as the Idaho Shakespeare Festival was coming to a halt, the company’s producing artistic director, Charlie Fee, said on Morning Edition, “Think about this … this may be the only time in all of history that every theater in the world is shut.” But now, the Festival is prepping for its 2021 season – a reset unlike any other. “We’re going to produce live plays for a live audience,” said Fee. “And we could not be more thrilled and excited.” Fee joined Morning Edition host George Prentice to detail the 2021 summer schedule and say how excited the company is to return to Idaho’s most famous amphitheater. ....
Journalism awards on display in the lobby of Boise State Public Radio. On Saturday, May 1, the news and programming teams at Boise State Public Radio were recognized for their excellence during the annual awards ceremony by the Idaho Press Club. The annual event recognizes the best in local reporting across categories such as newspapers, photography, periodicals, online and students. The Idaho Press Club is a statewide association of working journalists dedicated to excellence in journalism and freedom of information. Boise State Public Radio took home 20 honors, including several within their journalism collaborations: the Mountain West News Bureau, Guns & America and Report For America. James Dawson James Dawson joined Boise State Public Radio as the organization s News Director in 2017. He oversees the station s award-winning news department. Most recently, he covered state politics and government for Delaware Public Media since the station first began broadcasting in 2012 as the country s newest NPR affiliate. Those reports spanned two governors, three sessions of the Delaware General Assembly, and three consequential elections. His work has been featured on All Things Considered and NPR s newscast division. An Idaho native from north of the time zone bridge, James previously served as the public affairs reporter and interim news director for the commercial radio network Inland Northwest Broadcasting. His reporting experience included state and local government, arts and culture, crime, and agriculture. Boise State Public Radio Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger (R-Lewiston) during the first day of an ethics hearing into allegations he raped a volunteer staff member. The Idaho House ethics committee heard from more than a dozen witnesses Wednesday as it considers expelling a freshman Republican lawmaker Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger (R-Lewiston) has not been charged with a crime and the committee is solely considering whether his behavior constitutes “conduct unbecoming” of a legislator. The committee then must issue a recommendation to the full House, which would vote on any potential expulsion or sanction. Those witnesses who appeared at the Idaho Capitol include von Ehlinger himself and the 19-year-old victim, who testified behind a black cloth. ....

Aaron von Ehlinger Thursday, April 29, 2021 after citing a pattern of sexual predation among Capitol Mall staff and subordinates. UPDATE 2:49 p.m. Thursday: Since this was originally published, Rep. Ehlinger resigned from the legislature. After a tense and often disturbing day of testimony, the Idaho House Ethics Committee unanimously voted Thursday morning to recommend censuring Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger. The Lewiston Republican now will face the full House to decide his fate. After the decision, Governor Brad little released a statement in support of expelling the lawmaker. ....
