E.T., E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial This might be a basic answer, but E.T. has been my good friend my entire life. His long neck, healing powers, and killer backstory (a botanist left on Earth because he wanted to check out some flowers) make him the kind of alien you’d like to meet. This beer-swilling, BMX bandit is the perfect analog for adolescent angst: misunderstood, ignored, but with limitless potential. Most importantly, E.T. is there for his human pal Elliott, walking him through his first beer, first kiss, and his first time finding himself at the bottom of a ditch. Sledgehammer Games is Developing Call of Duty 2021, Says Activision / Activision Blizzard today confirmed that, as you might suspect, longtime Call of Duty developers Sledgehammer Games is working on this year’s game. We don’t really have any more concrete details, Activision promises that more details on the game are coming “soon.” It’s really not a surprise that Sledgehammer is the developer this time around. It would seem a large portion of these will be working on Call of Duty, as Activision will be tripling the size of the first-person shooter development teams. ....
After nine years, judge throws out WoW patent lawsuit After nine years, a lawsuit claiming that World of Warcraft publisher Activision Blizzard infringed on a patent held by a company called Worlds Incorporated has been tossed out by a US district court. A judge agreed with Activision Blizzard’s attorneys, saying that Worlds’ patents are “abstract ideas” that are not sufficiently transformative to be legally patentable. Worlds Incorporated is described by its owners as “a leading intellectual property developer and licensee of patents related to 3D online virtual worlds.” In 2012, Worlds filed a complaint against Activision Blizzard, alleging that World of Warcraft and Call of Duty infringed on five of its patents, which describe various processes for organising and displaying multiple player avatars in shared 3D spaces. Worlds’ attorneys asked the court to order Activision Blizzard to cease the alleged patent infringement and award damages (as in, money) t ....
