Mar 16, 2021 Courtesy Photo Alcona Historical Society received a $2,972 Community Impact Grant for the Sprucing Up Bailey School project. ALPENA The Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan recently awarded a new round of community grants covering a four-county area that includes Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties. The CFNEM Board of Trustees recently approved 46 new grants totaling $106,515. Of that amount, $84,289 was awarded in Community Impact Grants, and $22,226 was awarded in grants from the Northeast Michigan Youth Advisory Council. New Community Impact Grants are: ¯ Alcona Community Schools $1,000 for the Alcona Wrestling program; ¯ Alcona Community Schools $3,000 for the Elementary School Outdoor Classroom; ¯ Alcona County Commission on Aging $1,500 for the Alcona County Commission on Aging Technology Loan Center; ....
Published March 8, 2021, 5:00 AM Amid the decreasing hectarage of tobacco farms, the National Tobacco Administration (NTA) is determined to assist farmers grow their tobacco production through a contract-growing scheme, seedling assistance, modernization, among others. NTA Administrator Robert Victor G. Seares Jr. said the ongoing pandemic and effects of recent calamities on tobacco farms give his agency more resolve to assist tobacco growers. “They are essential to our economy, the backbone of the industry, and they should be given the support that they deserve,” he added.
