Group Opposed to Tax Abatement for Solar Farm Calls for Resignation of Commissioner

There was another large crowd in attendance Monday morning, March 1, for a meeting of Brown County Commissioners. Most were there to speak during Public Comments concerning tax abatements on a proposed solar farm project in southwest Brown County. Six of the speakers were against the proposed tax abatements that have been requested. Two men were in support of the solar farm proposed near Brookesmith.
Those against were from a local organization called TLOW. Their website is TLOW.org and states they are an organization of concerned landowners fighting to protect land rights and Texas native landscape.
Some of the speakers asked for the resignation of Wayne Shaw, Precinct 3 Commissioner, saying he has a conflict of interest in the proposed project near Brookesmith. ....

Group Opposing Tax Abatement Speaks to County Commissioners, Calls for Resignation of One

During the Public Comment section of the Brown County Commissioners meeting Monday morning, March 1, a total of eight speakers were given the floor to speak concerning tax abatements on proposed solar farm projects in Brown County. Several asked for the resignation of Precinct 3 Commissioner Wayne Shaw, citing conflict of interest.

James Douglas Rogers

James Douglas Rogers, 78 of Brownwood passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9
th at 10 am in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early. Interment to follow at Alameda Cemetery in Eastland County, TX at 1:30 pm.
Doug was born Wednesday, April 8, 1942 at Ranger General Hospital to J D Rogers and Naomi Weekes. He attended and graduated from Ranger High School in 1960 and went on to attend Texas Tech until he was drafted into the United States Navy.
Doug married Sharon Brown on July 4, 1970 at Mesquite & Rusk Church of Christ and began a life together that blessed them with 3 children. Doug coached his oldest son’s baseball team and then he coached the U10 soccer team with his oldest son again. He did not know anything about the game in the beginning. Morris Horton and Doug took this team to the Championship game in Dallas and won. Doug loved watching his own kids in their sporting events like basketball, baseball, g ....

Louie Blount, 80, of Early

Louie Neil Blount, age 80, excused himself from the mortal world to join our Heavenly Father on January 24, 2021. Born in the small town of Freeport, Florida on March 9, 1940 to Louis (“Louie”) Needham and Margaret Milbra (Stafford) Blount, he grew up amid hard work and happiness. With nary a video game nor smart phone to be found, he did the unthinkable and worked multiple jobs, played basketball, studied like a kid whose parents were both educators, rode his bike all over town and built enough character to last a lifetime. The Blount House is now maintained by the Town Planters Society of Freeport as a historical landmark and community center. ....

Oscar Blake Yancey Jr., known to all as Bo, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 13th, 2020. Services will be Saturday, December 19th, at 3 pm at the Grosvenor Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor David Barnum.
Bo was born May 18th, 1973 to Blake and Mona Yancey at Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood, Texas. He will be remembered for his kindness towards the people he loved and all animals he came across. He held a deep passion for classic cars, rock and roll, and bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His work and community service through offshore rigs, factories, and Goodwill brought him great joy and many cherished friendships. ....
