PROBABLY the most iconic and loved store in Northwich has closed.
Bratts had almost anything the town centre shopper could wish for. A superb selection of just about everything from frying pans to furniture. If you couldn’t find it or something like it in Bratts, you would probably not find it anywhere other than online. And therein lies the problem, not just of Bratts but all brick and mortar stores.
Bratts was one of the last true department stores in Cheshire. Browns of Chester and Debenhams, to name two of the competition, have also closed their doors for good. These are massive losses to the county and Bratts in particular. ....

Ipswich resident seeks rates reduction over dump odours

AN IPSWICH resident fed up with the foul odours in his suburb coming from nearby dumps has applied to the council and the state government for a reduction in his rates due to the impact on his family’s quality of life.
The retired miner believes the disgusting smells are just the “canary in the coal mine” ahead of something much worse.
Paul Hurley has owned his block of land in Ripley since 1979.
He and wife Jenny have lived at the house since 2009 after about three decades living and working in central Queensland.
William Inonda, Azadeh Nia and Sarah Rowe Odour Abatement Taskforce at Swanbank Lake. The taskforce has cost $2.5 million since it was set up in the middle of 2018. ....
