Kent sign Qais Ahmad for T20 Blast Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.) Kent have signed Afghanistan leg-spinner Qais Ahmad for the entire T20 Blast campaign and two County Championship matches. The 20-year-old has appeared in one Test, in 2019, and one Twenty20 international for his country. He has previously featured in T20 leagues in Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as the Caribbean Premier League. Kent, which plays under the name of Spitfire in the tournament, said that Amir will be available for at least seven matches. They added that he may feature in their side for more matches if Kent qualifies for the knockout stage of the tournament. The county team, however, clarified that the left-armer’s arrival to the UK is dependent on the Karachi Kings’ progression in this year’s PSL, and also on the mandatory quarantining period upon arrival into the UK. The ex- Pakistanseamer, who retired from international cricket in December 2020, is expected to be available for the final seven matches of the campaign. That means his spell could begin on June 25 against former side Essex, who he represented 21 times across spells in 2017 and 2019, when the Eagles went on to scoop the title. Amir could also feature in the knock-out rounds of the competition should the Spitfires progress. His arrival is subject to Pakistan Super League, which is due to run between June 1-20.
