Heartwell, who retired as mayor in 2015, and Ronald Snead, of Stanwood, were both appointed to the Ferris State University Board of Trustees this week, according to a news release from the governor’s office. Heartwell and Snead succeed outgoing trustees Robert Hegbloom and Lori Gwizdala, respectively, whose terms expire Dec. 31. The two new appointees will serve on the board beginning Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2028. ....

Gretchen Whitmer to Ferris State Universityâs Board of Trustees, a news release said Monday. Heartwell currently serves as a member of the Great Lakes Water Quality Board, Muskegon River Watershed Assembly, Newaygo Economic Development Corporation, Environmental Law and Policy Center Michigan Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Newaygo and for Garfield Township. His term will begin Jan. 1 and lasts until Dec. 31, 2028. ....
