In Parker County, Weatherford and Hudson Oaks are once again hosting their July 4th celebrations, as is Mineral Wells during its free community fireworks show. The Weatherford Parks and Recreation department is bringing back the annual Spark in the Park at Heritage Park from 6-10 p.m. July 4. Performing at the Heritage Park Amphitheater is Texas Clearwater Revival, who opens for headliners Blue Oyster Cult. ....
7 hrs ago PARKER COUNTY â A Springtown man was indicted by a grand jury this month on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, indecency with a child and sexual assault. In February, a forensic interview was conducted where the girl, now 17, made an outcry of sexual abuse by Jesse Benjamin Lee on multiple occasions, beginning when she was 12 or 13, according to the probable cause affidavit. The girl reported the sexual contact, which began with Lee touching her inappropriately before escalating, occurred at a residence in Springtown, and continued on a weekly basis until she was 15 years old. A Parker County sheriffâs investigator interviewed Lee, who admitted to the sexual contact, and said âhe is sorry for what he did and that he would apologize to the victim if she were present,â according to the affidavit. ....

6 hrs ago WEATHERFORD â Since Parker County joined the National Flood Insurance Program in 1990, new requirements and community pushback has caused concerns, commissioners were told Tuesday. The federal program, managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is valuable to areas of the county, particularly near the Brazos River, that are prone to regular flooding. âAll of the area around the Brazos River is mostly designated as a floodway, and itâs the type of flood plain that requires a little extra to get permitting approved,â Parker County Permitting Director/Floodplain Manager Ryen Mowrey said. That âextraâ includes an engineering study and a hydrological hydraulic analysis by a professional engineer, which are pretty expensive and extensive to get done, Mowrey said. ....
