Jeff Gilliland | The Times-Gazette On a night when the Hillsboro City Schools Summer Meals Program received an award for its outstanding service from the Childrens Hunger Alliance, food service director Jessica Walker announced that the program plans to add a second vehicle and nine new stops on its routes this summer. The new vehicle will be a refashioned bus call the Juice Box. “We think we have a really good lineup and the Juice Box is going to get us to people we didn’t get to before,” Walker said at Monday’s Hillsboro Board of Education meeting. ....
SOUTH KINGSTOWN â In an effort to build stronger community relations, the South Kingstown Police Department will be hosting a series of events to hopefully build-up positive ties with residents. On Saturday, South Kingstown Police Chief Joel Ewing-Chow and a handful of passionate officers were busy handing out juice boxes and providing sidewalk chalk at Old Mountain Field to the communityâs youngest residents. Operation Juice Box is just the kick-off event in a series of events already on the calendar for this summer. âThe biggest thing we need to do is go out and meet with the community at things like this, that are non-law enforcement types of duties,â Ewing-Chow said. âWhat Iâm concerned about is every time someone sees a police officer, people tend to think, âWhat happened? Whatâs wrong? Something bad must be happening.ââ ....
