Hermann Sigbjarnarson, MD, (Dr. Hermann) joins Dr. Arroyo at Siena Medical Clinic on the campus of St. Catherine Hospital. Together they offer years of diverse experience that keep them at the cutting edge in their field.
Sigbjarnarson graduated from the University of Iceland Medical School in 2005. He completed an internship at the National University Hospital in Iceland. He also completed a general surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. From 2015-2021, he was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, community surgery division, as well being a part of the hernia center. Working in smaller nearby hospitals as well, he was the Chief of Surgery for Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, NH. ....

ICU beds 'maxed out' at Halifax Infirmary as capacity increases across province

Nova Scotia Health is taking steps to temporarily expand its ICU bed capacity across the province as critical care beds at the Halifax Infirmary are occupied.(Robert Short/CBC)
Nova Scotia is setting a plan in motion to expand its capacity for high-acuity beds as the number of COVID-19 patients requiring critical care continues to surge.
On any given day, there are about 98 beds across the province designated for critical care. If needed, that number can be more than doubled to 229 through Nova Scotia Health s provincial escalation plan.
The modelling says we won t get to that number, and that won t be needed across the province, said Dr. Tony O Leary, the province s medical director for COVID critical care. ....

Single-vehicle collision sends four people to hospital; alcohol and speed believed to be factors

HALIFAX
Four people have been taken to hospital, one of which was airlifted, following a single-vehicle collision in North Kingston, N.S. on Monday.
Around 8 p.m., officers with the Kings District RCMP were notified of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 221.
Police and EHS members attended the scene and found a car that had left the road, struck a power pole and landed on its roof.
Police say four people between the ages of 23 and 31 were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Three of the vehicles occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, N.S. ....

April 27 NH DHHS COVID-19 update: 273 positive results with 16 in Manchester; no deaths reported

CONCORD, NH – On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, DHHS announced 273 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 2.9%. Today’s results include 163 people who tested positive by PCR test and 110 who tested positive by antigen test. There are now 2,611 current COVID-19 cases diagnosed in New Hampshire.
Several cases are still under investigation. Additional information from ongoing investigations will be incorporated into future COVID-19 updates. Of those with complete information, there are 61 individuals under the age of 18 and the rest are adults with 46% being female and 54% being male. The new cases reside in Rockingham (69), Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua (42), Strafford (24), Merrimack (23), Belknap (15), Grafton (14), Coos (11), Carroll (10), Cheshire (10), and Sullivan (5) counties, and in the cities of Manchester (16) and Nashua (13).
