rural crime Two men have been arrested after a rural crime spree in the early hours of Monday morning. (today) Police were called shortly before 2am as someone was attempting to steal a flatbed trailer from Lukers Farm in Grittenham near Malmesbury. The owner followed the suspect’s blue Ford Galaxy which was towing the trailer before they stopped, unhitched it and drove away. At 7.45am police received a related report of someone who had taken items from a van in a barn at Weir Farm in Broad Hinton before making off in a Ford Galaxy matching the description of the earlier vehicle. ....

Police are appealing for witnesses to a two-bike crash in Broad Hinton. The accident, which happened on the A361 at around 12.30pm on April 17, involved two motorbikes, a Triumph Street and a Suzuki. One of the riders suffered serious injuries to his leg which required him to go to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He had since been released from hospital following surgery. PC Ben Cox of the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are aware that there were witnesses to this collision, but they had left the scene prior to officers arriving. “They could have important information pertinent to this case and I’d urge them to please contact us on 101.” ....
