Ministry promises action against suppliers who breach festive season price controls

SHAH ALAM (Bernama): The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) will conduct further investigations into cases where traders were found to be selling controlled items above the prescribed price.
KPDNHEP enforcement director Azman Adam said suppliers and producers would be subject to legal action if they fail to comply with the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme for Hari Raya Puasa 2021, which started on Wednesday (April 21) and will be in force until May 20.
“We will also investigate wholesalers to see if they got their supplies from breeders or producers at higher prices.
“All parties will not be spared (legal action) if they are found to have violated the law, ” he said after a visit to check on the scheme s implementation at Pasar Awam Moden Seksyen 6 here on Sunday (April 25). ....

MELAKA: The Melaka Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) has revealed that there are still traders who use tricks to raise prices of goods.
Its director, Norena Jaafar, said that among those caught using such tricks, were buffalo meat traders who bought frozen meat but sold it as fresh.
“During our monitoring just now we discovered that there were traders who sold buffalo meat at RM22 per kilogram (kg) compared with the set price at RM20 (per kg).
“Enforcement officers had issued warnings, and if it is repeated, compounds will be imposed on the traders,” she said during the press conference after monitoring the implementation of the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme, in conjunction with Aidilfitri celebration at Pasar Besar Melaka, here, today. ....

KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 Traders who still fail to comply with the 2021 Aidilfitri Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) will be fined immediately.
Kuala Lumpur Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) chief enforcement officer Zubir Hamsa said the action would be meted out to traders who were still stubborn despite being warned before.

PUTRAJAYA, April 21 The price of chicken has stabilised following the implementation of the 2021 Aidilfitri Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) throughout the country starting today.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad said a total of 2,100 retailer, farmers’ market, sundry shop, wholesaler and hypermarket premises were inspected today.
Of the total, he said only two complaints received regarding chicken being sold above the maximum price of RM7.90 per kg. ....
