The three-day programme starts today
On Tuesday, the University of Madras will launch a three-day training programme on offering psychological first aid (PFA).
The programme is open to students of affiliated colleges.
The virtual event will be inaugurated by City Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi.
“The course is aimed at frontline or essential workers and volunteers dealing with the public during the COVID-19 pandemic. You do not have to be a specialist to deliver PFA,” explained S. Thenmozhi, programme convener and head of the Department of Counselling Psychology. The programme will benefit healthcare and social-care staff, first responders, frontline public-sector staff, essential workers, volunteers, supervisors and managers. ....

PESHAWAR: The Local Council Association (LCA) arranged a training workshop with the support of commonwealth Local Government for the protection of the basic rights of the minorities.
Former local bodies’ representatives and minority members from across the province participated in the workshop. Speakers highlighted the problems being faced by the minority communities. They asked the government to take steps for providing protection to minority communities in Pakistan.
The speakers said the government had allocated a five percent quota in every government department for the minorities. However, they said that the minority members were not being hired on the basis of that allocated quota. ....
