Students continue to face many challenges related to the global pandemic. No one could have predicted at the start of 2020 that the schooling students have grown accustomed to over several generations would be completely transformed, seemingly at the drop of a hat. That sudden shift has proven to be just one of many challenges that students, educators and parents faced during the pandemic. Members of the class of 2020 faced a lot of adversity as ceremonies like prom and graduation were canceled. From Staff Reports SALISBURY â Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will once again honor graduates with a drive-through commencement ceremony at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The event is scheduled for Friday, May 21 and will follow the same socially distanced format as the Collegeâs December 2020 graduation ceremony. Graduates will, quite literally, cross the finish line on the Speedwayâs track beginning at 10 a.m. âWe continue to make it our priority to keep our students, faculty and staff as safe as possible while celebrating the remarkable achievements of our graduates under the challenging conditions presented by COVID-19,â said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus. âOur December graduation on the track was an experience to remember, and we know that this ceremony also will create memories for a lifetime.â ....
