Sangma launched the Chief Minister’s Mobilisation Support for Producers programme. With a vision to identify, train and form Producer Groups, Service Providers and Collective Marketing Centers across Meghalaya, the objectives of the programme are to improve production, productivity and market access. Sindri: Two contractual miners working at Bharat Coking Coal Limited’s (BCCL) Munidih colliery were killed on Tuesday when loose strata of coal measuring 1 metre wide and 15 metre long fell on them from the side wall during an expansion work at the air duct in the XVIth seam of the mine. The deceased have been identified as Vijay Yadav (46) and Nirmal Gorain (40). This is the second mine accident in a span of two months at BCCL mines after the Khudia mine incident in December 2020. The BCCL management on Wednesday, after a prolonged conciliation meeting with trade union leaders, agreed to pay Rs 15 lakh as ex-gratia and Rs 1 lakh for performing the last rites to the kin of each of the deceased, besides job in the outsourcing company to one family member from each of the families. ....
