Thursday NJ weather: One chilly day, watching weekend rain chance

Thursday NJ weather: One chilly day, watching weekend rain chance The Bottom Line We’ve been describing this week’s weather as a roller coaster ride. Following that analogy, we’re at the bottom of the first drop, ready for a nice recovery. (And hopefully some killer air time!) One chilly day will be followed by more seasonable and pleasant days. Our next storm system will be an area of low pressure tracking directly over New Jersey this weekend, leading to a period of soaking rain. The extended forecast shows a sustained warmup next week, with thermometers potentially coming close to 80 degrees once again.

Turbulent weather for NJ Wednesday: Strong storms, then a freeze

The Bottom Line A strong cold front will spark some turbulent, active weather across all of New Jersey on Wednesday. A line of thunderstorms will roll in (and exit) quickly in the afternoon. And then a brisk wind will cause temperatures to take a big tumble Wednesday night. We’re looking ahead to roller coaster temperatures. Our next rain chance will arrive this weekend. Wednesday Runaway warmth and bright sunshine made Tuesday a spectacular spring day. Wednesday will start off fine. But Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night, not so much. We’re waking up to temperatures primarily in the 50s. As clouds increase Wednesday morning, thermometers will push toward a high around the mid 60s. So far so good.

NJ weather: Scattered rain, cloudy skies, temps go nowhere

The Bottom Line Umbrellas up and windshield wipers on. We’re facing an occasionally wet, gloomy, and relatively cool day Thursday. But it won’t be a soaker nor a washout. I keep thinking that if this storm system setup had happened 2 to 3 months ago, we would have a massive headache of a winter storm on our hands. This is one of those forecasts that is so sensitive to the storm track and timing. Any threat of wintry weather will stay to our north, with up to a foot of snow possible over New England. Thursday Following Wednesday’s pitiful showers, I’ve actually scaled back rainfall expectations for Thursday. Total rainfall will end up between a quarter-inch and a half-inch across most of the Garden State. (I had previously suggested over an inch.)

Wednesday NJ weather: More April showers, 36 hours of wet weather

Another storm system pushes into New Jersey Wednesday, with scattered showers to start, transitioning to a chilly steady rain on Thursday.

Tuesday NJ weather: One dry day, then another soaker storm system

Tuesday NJ weather: One dry day, then another soaker storm system Published: April 13, 2021 NAM model cloud cover forecast as of midday Tuesday, as partial sunshine breaks out across New Jersey. (College of DuPage Meteorology) The Bottom Line Tuesday will be a bright spot in a “blah” week. We’ll dry out for about 30 hours between rain chances. Our next storm system will impact New Jersey from Wednesday midday through Thursday and Friday morning. An inch of rain, tumbling temperatures, and even some snowflakes are in the forecast. Tuesday A much better and brighter day than Monday. It’s going to turn into a very nice day.
