Lunch and supper time at Where Y at Seafood Market and Restaurant on State 87 in Navarre have been busier than ever this Spring Break. Starting at 11 a.m., the locally owned restaurant s kitchen is packed with employees boiling shrimp, frying the catch of the day and serving out piping hot plates of Cajun-inspired seafood dishes to tourists and locals alike. But the restaurant, like many others in South Santa Rosa County, had to make a tough decision this week: to close down temporarily on Monday and Tuesday to give its overworked staff a break, since they’ve been severely understaffed since the start of the new year. During the public forum at the Dec. 10 Santa Rosa County Commissioners meeting, resident Sam Mullins asked the board to consider discussing the idea of renaming the bridge and even voting on it at the next meeting in January, which the board decided against. “I’m not prepared to bring this to an agenda item,” said Chairman Dave Piech. “This is a big decision on a bridge that needs to be replaced in the next eight to 10 years. I’m not closing the door to it … but I personally feel this county has a lot more issues to deal with right now.” ....
